Ian Rush - FA Cup 1986 - Wembley

Pencil sketch of Ian Rush celebrating after scoring in the 1986 FA Cup Final at Wembley.

Since being diagnosed with Facial Agnosia, this is the first drawing I have done of a face. Although not a detailed face it still was an intriguing process. Identified to me sections of the face I cannot process correctly.

Queenslander Police Car

As much as I like this drawing it will not be in my collection. This one has been done with the intention of raising money for charity. The charity I have chosen is the Bundaberg PCYC which at this stage is unknown to them. Although that will not be the case tomorrow. I will keep this post updated on how it progresses.

1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500 "Eleanor"

This is the second in the Movie Car series.  At one stage I was not happy with how this drawing was looking.  But after quite a few tedious hours, I am pretty sure that if I made this available for sale it could be "Gone in 60 seconds".

Now having drawn 3 Mustangs, I can confidently say that this is a model that I love to draw.

From the Archive - Carnage (Marvel Comics)

Here is my favourite drawing from my younger days when I loved to draw pictures from comic books.  Generally I would find a small frame in a comic book and redraw it in my style of drawing.  Rarely do I use colour but in this case an exception was made.

Carnage is a great villain to draw as the image looks chaotic but it has a sense of symmetry as well.

Grand Hotel, Bundaberg

This was done as a favour to someone working at the Grand Hotel for a Leukemia Foundation fundraising raffle. Having never attempted a pencil sketch before of a building makes me wonder if I should do more of them.  I have contemplated doing a few of the historic buildings in Bundaberg but to this stage it is still just a thought.  The picture was drawn from an old archive photo circa 1890.  TO date this is still one of my favourite drawings.

Bugatti Veyron

The Veyron is not a car I would have chosen to do, but when requested to draw it, I could not refuse.  Drawing a car with such smooth lines and two toned in colour was not as easy as it looks.  Bt the end result is one I am happy with, although I think I may have to choose a classic car with great lines for my next project.

Aston Martin DB5

This is the first in a series that is being done for myself.  In our media room it was decided that I should draw a series of pictures to hang up instead of the standard set of movie posters.  Unsure of what to draw it was suggested by my lovely wife to draw iconic cars from movies.  What better car to start the set off then James Bond's  Aston Martin from Goldfinger.

Atomic Force

My first attempt at a horse and my subject of choice was Atomic Force in it's first group one win.  This was done as a gift and may be followed up with another later.

66 Mustang Convertible

Unfortunately this is the only photo I have of this one.  My wife was too quick to frame it after I drew it.  At least I have some sort of record though.

68 Mustang GT Fastback

Nothing like a classic Mustang.  They were made to be the affordable sports car and left a lasting impression.  Absolutely loved drawing this one.

Ford GT

This was the first drawing after a long spell.  Cars were never a subject I had done except for a short preiod back in school.  This is the drawing that kicked started the revival.

Welcome

Welcome to the art work of Michael G Drewett.   After a long lay-off from drawing (close to 10 years) I have found the passion again.  What I draw has changed but the style is still similar.  I work predominately in pencil and every now and then in pen and ink.  In my younger days I liked to draw fantasy and comic book art but recently have moved into drawing automobiles after a request from my wife.  I still think it was her subtle plan to get me drawing again.

As I draw I will post the pictures on this site and every now and then I will post drawings from the past.  Unfortunately some pictures will only be from photos as I no longer have them in my possession.
